Braving the New York Winter and Finally Visiting Freedom Tower

Sometimes when we’re not traveling out of the country for the holidays, we make a day trip to New York. Nduku’s mom [or as she says, mum] was still in town, so off to the Big Apple we went.

In the past the weather was pretty calm. Chilly but not too unfriendly. This time, sensing we had someone with us from an equatorial country, the weather was brutally cold. But how could we not take Nduku’s mom to Times Square?

Though cold, it’s New York and one of the attractions is just walking around, marveling at the buildings and sites. Eventually we hopped on the subway and headed to the financial district.

Riding the New York City subway.

In previous visits we discussed but passed on visiting the Freedom Tower. But we needed warm shelter and after hanging out at ground zero and in the underground mall, we finally did the Freedom Tower observatory deck.
