When I unloaded from Megabus in Richmond on the way the Redskins training camp, I was greeted with this huge mural. Interesting. There was a sign, explaining the area where I was. It was a slave auction site.
Across the street from the mural was a statue of two people hugging. It’s the Reconciliation Statue, dedicated to, well, reconcile, with the horrid past of slavery. Specifically, I found interesting, was how the text around the statue as well as on the base of the statue specifically pointed out the country of Benin as the primary source of slaves brought to the area.
And then I was off to Redskins training camp.
